As I was born a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and raised as one, I recognize the importance of integrating the concept of HSP into my practise of Care and Recovery from Emotional ill Health, where necessary and applicable.

My knowledge and understanding about the Highly Sensitive Emotional profile based on my own experience and the study of Dr. Elaine Aron ‘s research, contribute in assisting me and my clients into gaining a clearer picture of their Emotional and Psychological makeup, and it gives me and you the client in return a more accurate understanding about your existing turmoil.

Certain characteristics of a HSP :

    • Need for more down time than others.
    • Do not do well working long hours or at a job that is not meaningful to them.
    • May have to change jobs or professions often before they find the right one. On the other hand, they may stay too long in a job that’s bad for them because of professional insecurities.
    • Are unusually good parents, but parenting is also more stressful for them and they need even more time off than other parents.
    • Perform worse when being observed and evaluated, often giving them a long history of underachievement and seeming failures.
    • Have a deep sense of being flawed because of having been raised in a culture that does not value the trait of HSP, and because they have always felt secretly different without any explanation for it. This is especially true for men.
    • May have problems in their relationships at home or at work that could be easily solved with a better understanding of their trait.

Certain things are normal for HSPs, even if not found in the other 80% of the population. HSPs... :

ETC….

Highly Sensitive People are often poorly understood due to a lack of information and education which in turn creates the illusion that they cannot function in or adjust to society. As a consequence of this, the HSP gets alienated and disconnected from his/her authentic -Self. This then, could lead to emotional ill health and/or aggravate existing emotional conditions due to poor management in accordance to the needs of the HSP’s traits.

This insight about yourself can give you valuable cues and understanding on who you are and how you position yourself in life, and with others. If this is never identified and taken into consideration, you will be left with a deep sense of inadequacy combined with a bitter taste of not fitting in despite all the fantastic things you have to offer to life. I want you to know that life does not have to come to that extreme because you can be shown how to navigate through life as a HSP with the sufficient support.

As you learn to embrace what it is like to be one, it will feel like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders - everything will start clicking into place .The connection with your inner –Self will eventually happen. It can be described as having been tuned to the living frequency. As for me it felt like having found my wings as I could then fly in life, and I still can.
